The fifth edition of the Festival
After three years of forced outage for the pandemic, here's return to the festival “Rome, open city”now in its fifth edition, organized by the School of Popular Chess Rome, now in its 14th year of life. Home of the game: it was confirmed the Hotel Eurostars Roma Aeterna, a 4 star place in one of the districts symbol of roman nightlife! The participants, who were well-87 in the ‘Master’, 70 in the tournament ‘A’ and 102 in the tournament ‘B’. This year, the registrations were closed in advance for the problems of receptivity while the wide seat of the game, and therefore are due to remain outside many interested parties, even international masters. Even if only to break the tie, the victory of the G. M. Visakh was well-deserved as the indian led and controlled the Tournament from the beginning to the end, concluding with two patte. Fourth playoff technical 6.5 is now the number two seed, the Macedonian (former Russian) Nikita Petrov, undefeated and a little too prone to equality.
The fourth edition of the Festival
The Festival this year had as its subtitle “the Bicentennial Academy Chess Roman” thanks to the efforts of the Presidents of the ASR, Lorenzo Castellano and Bruno Roberti, that have been added to the name of the historic roman circle of Dubois, to that given by the first organizers of this tournament. Also this year the venue of the game will be in the large main room of the Hotel Eurostars Roma Aeterna. This modern and efficient Hotel can boast of a particular approaches to the history of ASR: it's located in a sector of a historic building, completely renovated and modern, which at one time was the headquarters of the Pharmaceutical Company Serono. This year at the Festival, plus several other events. First of all, a press conference to enrich the opening ceremony on Sunday 8 December, then another for the bicentenary of the ASR on the following Friday, then the Wednesday course Alex Rombaldoni “Educate chess”.

The third edition of the Festival
You open the stage on the Third International Chess Festival “Rome, Open City”. Let's say immediately that it is not “a tournament” but “the tournament” of Rome, the most important of which is held in the Capital is one of the largest in Italy. The Festival, founded in 2016 amid a thousand difficulties many measurable, others unexpected, has sanctioned the return of the great chess in Rome after -guilty all the moving chess – too many years of absence. In the two years of life has been able to confirm both in terms of number of participants (an average of 170 players in the two previous editions), both in its international character (present players from 31 countries and 4 Continents), and as the rate of technical (12 GM Masters present in the media in the two previous editions).
The second edition of the Festival
The second edition of the International Tournament “Rome, Open City“ was preceded by a Press Conference in the Capitol coordinated by Massimo Carconi, president of ASD Popular School of Chess. Between declarations interesting and some lack of surprise, the young GM u.s. Awonder Liang is performed in a simultaneous 16 the exchequer. The Festival concluded on Sunday, 10 December with a large and qualified participation. The tournament, well-organized, from the Popular School of Chess, has complied with the predictions of the Elo ranking, with the GM Turkish Emre Can which he won with a convincing 7.5 out of 9, distancing one point a quartet consisting of the GM swiss Sebastian Bogner, the GM Ukrainian Yuri Solodovnichenko, the young GM u.s. Awonder Liang and the I German Frank Bracker.

The first edition of the Festival
Have returned to the great chess in Rome, thanks to the commendable and well-managed of the A. S. D. – people's School of Chess. From 4 to 10 December at the Hall of the Palatine of the Eurostars Roma Aeterna, in piazza del Pigneto 9 (district Castrense) to play, in fact, the “1st International Festival of Rome, Open City”. 12 GM, 2 WGM, 15 AND IM on a total of 182 participants tell us that this is one of the most important tournaments ever held in Rome (BancodiRoma in part), and also among the first in Italy in the past few years.
Shall I ask you to confirm Paolo Andreozzi of the “people's School of Chess”. “Yes, that's right, we are very satisfied. Everything is going to be for the best. However, the commitment, I would say the sacrifice was to be part of our remarkable, truly remarkable, believe me”.
