“The Ultimate Defeat”the literature that was born from the board

The Teacher, instructor, and writer Carlo Alberto Cavazzoni is l’soul “L’Last Check”the literary competition that led to the center of the culture Italian chess short story inspired by the game of chess. A’initiative that has passed through four editions with increasing recognition, arriving quest’year to its fourth edition.

L’idea is as simple as it is ambitious: to ask the writers to tell the chess leaving aside the technical, for the emergence of the philosophical, metaphorical, and deeply human of the game. The board becomes a reflection of life, a theater of meanings that go beyond the sixty-four squares.

The value of the’the initiative is confirmed by the patronage of the Italian Chess Federation, renewed quest’year, and from the support of the publishing house The Two Towers and UniChess.

In this edition, also comes an important milestone: The Two Towers will post all the stories of the third and of the fourth edition of the a’unique anthology — “L’Last Check III” — who will also collect the poems of the competition “the Desire for the infinite,” and a photographic section dedicated to the game. Output expected by the end of 2026.
